Pricing: Tek Sci Productions

Video content is expensive. A national 30-second television commercial costs over $350K. Hollywood blockbusters routinely have budgets over 100 million dollars.

But industrial videos are considerably more affordable than flashy commercials or spectacular feature films. Industrial videos only need to communicate your message. As long as the video is not so amateurish that it distracts from that message, it will be genuinely appreciated by your clients.

But although industrial videos are more affordable than commercials and films, they are not a negligable expense either.

A "prosumer" video producer charges about $5000 to cover a wedding. The wedding videographer does not incur the following expenses:

  • Script writer/Preproduction costs
  • Location rental
  • Actors/Voice Talent
  • Animations
  • Original Music

Tek Sci Productions provides all of the above (and considerably more professional equipment ), so our estimates (for large, established, for-profit companies) are in the "tens of thousands of dollars" range.

We do not charge by "minute of finished product." Dr. Campos prides himself on producing a 3 minute video that conveys the same information as 10 minutes of video. The 3 minute video is easier to watch, and the content will be remembered better. However, a quality short video can be more costly than a longer video, if the shorter video is more complex. (For example, a 3 minute music video uses more camera angles than a 30 minute game show.)

We can not be more specific than a "tens of thousands of dollars estimate" on the internet. (And we are flexible with worthy non-profit organizations, so we can provide a video they can afford.) Much of the cost will depend on the complexity of the product, the number of features to be explained in the "quick-start" video, and the number of cast/crew it will take to produce a quality video.

While the average viewer is aware of the long list of names that are credited at the end of the movie, many of our clients are suprised to learn that talents towards at least ten roles need to be provided to produce a quality video:

Preproduction: Writer, Director, Producer
Production: Lights, Camera, Actors, and Sound
Post Production: Editor, Music, Motion Graphics
The size of the cast/crew (and the other variables mentioned above) are impossible to predict, until Dr. Campos knows which product he will be explaining.

You should also remember that the "tens of thousands of dollars estimate" includes our standard service package: a training video, a quick-start text manual, and a short internet advertisement.

Also remember that there is only a 25% down payment. But that down payment does not occur until the second meeting, after Dr. Campos has an better idea of the specific scope of the project. The remaining balance will be due upon completion of the project, many weeks later. The timeline of the video production is an intial contact, we schedule an initial meeting, schedule a follow-up meeting and then many weeks for production and post production. While you could wait until you need the video next week, "expedited production" will be considerably more expensive. We encourage our clients to contact us early in their decision making process. We do not charge a fee for our initial meetings, and we do not employ "high pressure" sales tactics.

So please contact us if you would like more information specific to your project.
